  • I’m in the weird span of time between my time here in Fort Worth and spending my summer in Houston.  I’ve been trying to tie up some loose ends, helping my mom get the backyard ready for the summer (we just got the pool redone).  I’m kind of sad about it…leaving a nice backyard with a pool to move to a place where I’m not sure if I’ll have access to a pool or not.  But I spent a lot of sad hours in the pool last summer, so I know a pool by itself doesn’t bring happiness.

I’ve been going to Zumba class a lot.  I just got back actually.  Zumba is fun, but the enjoyment of the class depends on the instructor.  I went to one in Houston last week…I walked in and everyone was sitting on the floor, talking quietly.  Ummmm, weird.  Zumba is a high energy class and I’ve *never* seen anyone sitting around beforehand.  So I stood, by myself in the back, and waited…5:58….6:01….6:04…6:06 is when the instructor got there for the 6 pm class.  She didn’t even apologize or anything.  She was kinda rude, too.  Needless to say I didn’t enjoy it.  I’m a stickler for starting on time because of being in the world of rehearsals – we aren’t allowed to be late.  So it was a bummer.

24 Hour Fitness here is awesome.  The ones I’ve been to in Houston…not so much.  I’m planning to start doing Insanity with Chad, right after our 7 day cruise.  Wish me luck ;)

  • Agreed- the goodness of Zumba totally depends on the instructor! We have a Jamaican gal who does our class at the Y. She is amazing and energetic and fun and I’ve been disappointed with every other Zumba teacher after being in her class.

  • Hi Amy, you reminded me of this California grown guy being transferred to the Mid-West.  I called a 9:00 a.m. meeting in my new office to introduce myself. I went in about 8:50 a.m. to get acclimated to the conference room. I was shocked. My entire department was there, pads open and pen in hand.

In California, let the employees straggle in for about 15 minutes and then start. lol What a difference.

The hardest working employees I ever had were in Grand Rapids. They all attended Reformed churches and were always coming into my office looking for more work to do.

I know moving may be new to you–I did it 20 times.  I looked at it as a fresh start. I hope you find a good heath club to stay fit. This is quite a step you are taking by faith and I wish you the very best.

  • A cruise? Man,I wanna go on another cruise. The one my wife and I went on last Oct was cool.I didn’t think I’d ever go on one,but now I see why people go.I just wish they wulda let me fish off the boat ROFL

Why do you go to Houston? Is it for school or something?

  • @ANVRSADDAY - Thank you :)   Broken equipment is never fun to work out on, either.

@Pepin909 - I have several instructors here that I LOVE.  I’ll miss them.  *sniff*

@Somefishytales - I’m going to Houston for the summer because that’s where my boyfriend is :)   He procured me a little apartment atop a show barn right down the path from him.  It’s a pretty cool setup :)   Thanks for asking.

  • @NightCometh - Wow,that sounds cool.He sounds like a great guy.I hope he’s God’s man for you.

Luck. Blessing. Good fortune. Providentiality. The full monty. The package deal. May it all overtake you, like a beneficial tsunami washing over your head.

  • :D i try to be understanding with late people, cause i become late at times too… but when they’re late like 30 minutes or more without sending a heads up… i leave…

  • Oh a cruise! That sounds amazing

My relatives are into Zumba. My personal preference is belly dancing. Whether it’s Egyptian or fusion, I’ve always had a good time

  • Our 24 hour fitness has a pool, and i used to go between works.  I was in amazing shape then.   There’s a small gym in my apartment complex, and it’s all I need ,but I’m fat and have to go when there’s no one else because I smell.  It’s true.  Fat people smell bad.  I’ve just gotten to the point I’m not so dizzy that I can exercise.

The bad thing about community pools is that they aren’t the cleanest though.  I have a rash on my face from our blue glory.  They finally changed the water in it, but it was a health hazard.

The younger people, not that I’m much older, were encouraging my laps.  That’s how all people should be because it’s obvious that I need to lose weight.

I used to go to a lot of classes like that, and i was in dance for years, as my mother was an instructor. However, since i got schizophrenia, I have lost a lot of my coordination, so I can’t do that stuff, but kudos to you.

  • Best wishes, girl!! :D Where is your cruise to?
