  • Summer Storms update

There is thunder crashing down on me outside, but I’m safe in my little room.

So much has gone on in the past few weeks.  I’ll give you a highlight tour and maybe expand later.
Chad, my mother, and I went on a cruise for a week and returned last Sunday.  It was pretty good overall.  My favorite was swimming with stingrays in Grand Cayman, but I loved Jamaica as well.  Cozumel was rainy, just like last time.

Since I’ve been back I’ve been blissfully employed with reading, cooking a bit, and thinking about laundry.  I say thinking about it because I’ve yet to do it.  I have to take my clothes down the path to Chad’s house and do them there, and I haven’t yet.  I tried to do some of Chad’s laundry today but it was already in the wash.  The big house has a maid that randomly comes and does things to Chad’s room, but I don’t know when or what…so it’s confusing to me.  Lots of things go on here that I don’t know about till they happen, and it throws me off.

There’s a little coffeehouse down the way called Daily Brew.  It’s got just about the best drink I’ve ever had – a blueberry white mocha.  Yum.  I take my books there and read them till I want to leave or get distracted by others being too loud.  But it’s mainly wonderful.

Since being on the cruise I’ve been eating really well, and Chad has been trying too.  We started Insanity (the workout)…just have done day one.  I almost puked on the fit test part.  I bet this is portentous of things to come.  I hate throwing up.

Something strange and disconcerting happened…I had an old message on Facebook I stumbled on from a girl I didn’t know.  She said she was my ex’s girlfriend after me, and that she found out he gave her herpes and that I should get tested.  At first I thought it was someone being cruel and messing with me, but I don’t know why any sane person would do that.  This is interesting because 1) I’m a virgin and 2) At the time he claimed to be a Christian and a virgin and 2) We never did anything sexual that could give me herpes.  I’m not sure what I make of it.  I wrote her back and thanked her for the concern but assured her I’m okay.  My ex has gone off the deep end since we broke up, had some really bad things happen to him, stopped going to church, stopped really believing in God, and thrown away his sexual purity.  My heart breaks for him, but I’m glad I’m where I am now.

Speaking of where I am now, I am really anxious to get involved in Pro-life stuff here but the organization I keep email is very spotty with responding.  I wait for weeks before getting a reply.  I might go with a different one until I hear from them for sure.  I always feel weird working with the Catholics because I know so much of their lingo and practice but I’m not Catholic…so I have to explain that I can’t when they invite me to mass.  But sometimes the Catholics are the only ones doing anything about abortion and I want to help, so I stand with them.

That’s all for now.  I will have pictures for you later…don’t you worry :)

  • Sorry about the ex boyfriend. You hate to hear that about someone you loved at one time.Glad you got away from him in time to see the real him.

I’m so jealous. We went to Grand Caymon on our cruise in Oct and had the swimming with the dolphins and stingrays all set up.When we got there, the swalls were too bad and they wouldn’t let us load onto the tender boats that came to take us to the island from the ship.We were supposed to go to Ocho Rios in Jamaica too but because of bad weather had to reroute to Montego Bay.It wasn’t that great.Key West ended up being our best stop but it was still cool being on the ship.I gained 8 lbs on Ice Cream alone.I had all the Ice Cream machine locations memorized LOL Maybe I could gain weight and keep iton if I bought one of those Ice Cream machines.

  • Sounds like things are going well. that makes me happy. :)

  • The cruise sounds delightful glad you had a good time.

That’s really too bad about your ex. Good thing you got away from him when you did. Your response to that girl was a good one.

You can go to Catholic mass even though you are not Catholic. What you cannot do is take Communion. You can choose stay behind when others get communion. However, if that is awkward for you, you can go up with everyone else, cross your hands over your chest, forming an X. This is a sign that you want a blessing rather than communion, and anybody is welcome to receive a blessing whether or not they are Catholic.

  • the cruise sounds lovely. Good riddance to the ex.

  • Your recount is full of so much peace.

  • well I don’t know about everything, but if you kissed once, you could have contracted herpes from him….. just something to think about

  • I know about summer storms both kinds. Those you can see in the trees and those you can’t see, that smash things in your heart.   God bless your decisions. Stand true to yourself and God. You will never regret it, ever.

  • @Blue_Moon1 - She wasn’t talking about oral herpes.

  • Your ex? The one you used to blog about when you were dating him? Why is it any of our business if he has an illness? Would he want you telling all your readers about it? Medical professionals aren’t allowed to disclose information about patients in order to protect their privacy, and putting information about your ex’s very personal disease on a website where anyone could come across it seems like a severe breech of privacy.

It’s one thing to discreetly let someone know that she should be tested because so-and-so has an illness, it’s another thing entirely to gossip about it on a blog.

  • @Kayla - I have several exes that I’ve blogged about, and I didn’t identify which one.

  • @NightCometh - The information that you posted (that he’s your ex-boyfriend and used to be a Christian but isn’t any longer) is still information which could be used to identify him. If a medical professional gave out that much information about someone, they would get fired.

The fact of the matter is that you have no right to post his potentially identifiable information in conjunction with his sensitive medical information. It’s gossip and nothing more.

  • @Kayla - I’m not worried, and I’m not a doctor. It’s hearsay. Who are you anyway?

  • @NightCometh - I’m an ex-student nurse. Three
years under my belt; I only quit because of chronic health issues of my
own, so I’m pretty sensitive when it comes to invasions of medical
privacy. The very first thing they teach in nursing school
is that you DO NOT talk about your patients with anyone who isn’t
involved with their care because to do so is a breech of privacy,
punishable under HIPAA. My second year of school, one of my classmates
was very nearly kicked out of the program because she was caught looking
    through
the medical files of someone who wasn’t her patient. Even if you
discovered the information through hearsay, spreading someone else’s
personal and sensitive medical information around without their consent
is extremely unethical, especially if its for the sole purpose of
    gossip.

  • @Kayla - While I appreciate your concert, this is my blog, where I talk about my life.  I’m not a doctor, I’m not bound by HIPAA, and I took great pains to be charitable when discussing this.

  • @NightCometh - Your lack of respect for the privacy of your ex is astounding. Can you honestly imagine he would be pleased if he found out you were giving out this information without his consent? You may not be bound by HIPAA, but you are bound by common decency.

Why are you so intent on keeping this information up anyway? It’s completely irrelevant to your readers and keeping this information up when it’s clearly an invasion of his privacy just makes you look vindictive and petty.

  • Just stopping to say HI. Things are much better for me.
